Business Narrative

Texas Truck & Equipment Sales and Salvage, Inc. began in 1992 and was incorporated on January 27, 1994 by Mr. James Farmer and Mr. Allen Butler. In the beginning, James was the only employee, and Allen financed the purchase of the trucks and truck parts. We started out by using an office in Allen’s business space and rented a storage yard from Mr. Joe Bob Stotts. After about six months in business, Allen and I purchased the building and parts inventory from Tommy’s Truck Sales located at 940 E 66th Street in Lubbock, Texas. After about one year, James purchased Allen’s interest in the business. Texas Truck continued its operations at the 66th Street location. The company’s labor force quickly grew to approximately six employees, including James’ brother, Mr. Russell Farmer, who is still the General Manager today.

In 2007, Mr. Farmer purchased the adjacent property and continued to expand the business operations into the majority of the current 30,000 square foot building located at 1115 E Slaton Road and leasing out any space unused by Texas Truck to other commercial entities. At the time, Texas Truck’s employment had grown to include twelve full time employees.

In the years following the expansion, Texas Truck acquired approximately ten acres of adjacent property located at 950 E 66th Street. In 2016, James agreed to sell the original building and a portion of the property to the long-term tenants, at which time, Texas Truck began to erect a 5,000 square foot warehouse at 950 E 66th Street.

Texas Truck now employs 14 full-time employees, including James’ daughter, Ms. Kaitlan Farmer, who oversees the Administrative Department as the company’s Controller. Texas Truck & Equipment Sales and Salvage, Inc. specializes in Heavy Duty Truck Salvage, Truck and Trailer Sales, New, Used, and Rebuilt Truck Parts, Truck Service, and Custom Construction and Oilfield Fabrication with gross receipts for the previous year totaling almost $5M.
